Head of Urban Music, Columbia Records

Fant has established herself as a preeminent executive in the entertainment industry. She was recently appointed as Head of Urban Music at Columbia Records. She oversees campaigns for a roster which includes Lil Nas X, Raphael Saadiq, Pharrell, Chloe and Halle, Polo G, Lil Tjay and more.

She was previously SVP of Media & Strategic Development for Warner Bros. Records where she envisioned, enacted, and executed high-profile and innovative media campaigns for a myriad of award-winning, multiplatinum, and influential artists. Past campaigns included Jason Derulo, Prince, Andra Day, Drake’s OVO Sound, Bebe Rexha, Lil Pump, Marshmello, Saweetie, Gallant, YFN Lucci, Wu-Tang, Maybach Music Group, Nile Rodgers, Kimbra, Nico & Vinz, Theophilus London, Common, Cher, Gary Clark Jr., Lianne La Havas, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and more. Transcending the scope of traditional media, she illuminated the intersection between her projects across film, television, fashion, nightlife, hospitality, charity, politics, and sports.

Beginning at Motown Records, she played an instrumental part in raising public awareness of the revolutionary and impactful “neo-soul movement.” During this period, she proved integral to the launch of movement leaders such as Erykah Badu and India.Arie, while also working other prominent label acts: Brian McKnight and 702.

Although Phylicia always possessed a natural “knack” for publicity, she eagerly honed her skills, while quickly fattening her rolodex. This eventually led to her promotion to Universal’s Pop music department where she worked diverse marquee acts such as Prince, Amy Whinehouse, Lindsay Lohan, JoJo, 3 Doors Down, Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Qtip, Akon, Kelly Rowland, Mya, Swizz Beatz, Kid Cudi, and Michael Bolton, to name a few.

Phylicia has been a member of NARAS since 2004, consultant for Culture Creators, Music Unites, co-founder of “Honorable Women in Music”, and founded and helped launch the Annual Entertainment Summit at Spelman College. She The Recording Academy – LA Chapter Foundations Committee and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She received her Executive Education Certificate from Harvard Business School in 2018.
